Stories of water, of connection to country, have been passed down over countless generations of Indigenous peoples. These stories form the basis of their respect and their aspirations for sustainable water resources. The Murray Cod dreaming story which honours the creation of the River Murray, and the Rainbow Serpent stories, are widely recognised as the oldest continuing beliefs in the world.

The National Cultural Flows Research Project recognises the importance of stories and knowledge and welcomes all stories from the Community about water and waterways on Country.

Please feel free to send us a short story and attach a photo where available and we will publish it on our Our Stories page.
